Our Beliefs

We are Republicans, Democrats, independents, liberals, moderates, and conservatives who believe great public schools are the key to strong neighborhoods and are the bedrock of democracy.

We recognize that high quality public schools are the bedrock of safe and prosperous communities and the key to securing the many advantages of American liberty for our children and grandchildren.

We express our respect and gratitude and give our support to the teachers, administrators and staff who labor unselfishly to provide opportunities for every child. We recognize that they are often under-compensated and under-appreciated. They deserve the gratitude and support of the communities they serve.

We celebrate our schools in their relentless pursuit of academic excellence, enriching lives and preparing students to become good citizens who contribute to society. We value public education for establishing opportunity that realizes the value of every child. We revere the mission of public education to provide a safe environment in which all persons are respected and welcome and in which diversity is celebrated.

We recognize the sacrifice made by taxpayers to fund schools and believe that the investment pays dividends many times over. We encourage the responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources. We support the equitable and fair distribution of those resources. We insist on transparency which enables citizens to be knowledgeable and informed.

We believe that parents are first and foremost responsible for the nurturing and education of their children. We recognize the value of parental involvement in local schools.

We recognize that school districts are political subdivisions of the state of Missouri and are subject to the umbrella of state law. We support uniform academic standards and processes but believe that the management of local schools is often best left to the locally elected school boards.

We oppose the direct or indirect diversion of public resources to private schools. We believe that supporting public schools is the best way to maximize positive academic outcomes and to ensure that the highest quality educational opportunities are available to all families. We support appropriate ballot initiatives that improve funding for public schools.

We support candidates for local school boards who support public education. We reject the forces of division manifested through narrow culture war issues or individual agendas. We categorically reject unjust or prejudicial treatment based on race, creed, religion, gender, disability, age, or sexual orientation.

We believe that a trained and educated citizenry lays the foundation for lives of virtuous purpose and meaning. We promote respect and encourage the highest disciplinary standards in public schools. We pledge ourselves to the principles enshrined in the Constitution of the United States.
